Colour Inspiration #45

Hi there,

It's almost Friday!!! I am very much looking forward to the weekend. It's going to be a busy one as usual, but at least I get to spend most of it with the family! Kristina Werner posted her new colour challenge tonight, and I just had to play. I love these colours but I did struggle trying to come up with a design. The card I created has been in my head, in one version or another for some time. It was really difficult to photograph. I also tried using my black embossing powder for the first time. There were many many mistake hearts stamped and embossed because I learnt the hard way that black is not very forgiving. It shows all the mistakes!! The embossing buddy is a MUST when working with black embossing powder!! I took two pictures, one of the card laying down, and one standing up because I wasn't sure how it would turn out in the pics. I also struggled with this one because I wanted to add a sentiment, but wasn't sure that I should. I didn't want to over complicate things, if you know what I mean. Anyhow let me know what you think about the card.
I would love to get some feed back.

Products used:
Stampin' Up "Polka Dot Punches" stamp set,

Happy St. Paddy's Day & a swap card!!

I am like 1/8th Irish so that counts right? But isn't everyone Irish on St. Paddy's day?? I thought I would show you a card that I made at my Upline (What's an upline you ask??? She is the person who I signed up to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator under, and if you were to join my team like Cindy and Barb have, I would be yours!), Caroline LeBel's at our Canadians, Ink! team meeting this month. Since, today is really the only day it is appropriate. The clover is actually 3 hearts stamped using the FREE Sale-a-bration set Polka Dot punches and is then punched out with the Full Heart punch. Oh how I love sets that coordinate with punches! The word Lucky is actually cut out from the image that is acheived when you roll out the "Pinch Me" Jumbo Wheel. And then it has Dazzling Diamond glitter on it! Oh, and the paper is the FREE Sale-a-bration Designer Paper, Darling Dots. Don't forget that you only have a few weeks left to take advantage of Sale-a-bration!!! The promotion ends on March 31st.

But since I am not actually going out to celebrate the day, and since I rarely drink Beer anymore, and most certainly not green beer, I thought you might want to see another card that has no green on it too.

This past weekend Stampin' Up! held the Regionals in London, Ontario. I unfortunately did not go, but I made sure to make up a bunch of swap cards (What's a swap you ask? When Stampin' Up! Demonstrator's get together they swap card fronts so that they have lots of ideas to share with you, our customers!) that Caroline offered to swap on my behalf. I picked up my swaps today and I must say there are some very talented Stampers in the area! So, I thought I would show you the card that I had swapped this weekend. I hope that everyone who got one liked it!

Products used:
Stampin' Up "Trendy Trees" stamp set, "Thank you Kindly " stamp set
Stampin' Up Card stock- Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy
Stampin' Up Ink- Rose Red, Close to Cocao
Accessories- Night of Navy 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Big Shot, Stampin' Up! Texturz plates Background 1 Small polka dots.

Tonight is my first club!!!

I am soooo excited because a group of wonderful women are coming to my place tonight to stamp their hearts out!!! They are a part of my first Stampin' Techniques Club! What's "Club" you ask.... well it's really quite simple. Each month (second Friday) they come over to my place where they will get to make 2 to 3 projects. Each month will focus on a different technique. This month we are doing Embossing!! Contact me directly if you are interested in joining a club. I am looking for another group of 10 women to start my next club. Some of the perks of club are:

  • Free catalogue
  • Hostess benefits in your month
  • Detailed instructions
  • hands on learning
I thought I would share with you a couple of tonights cards. Since we are focusing on embossing tonight, one uses heat embossing and the other is embossed using a template I created and a stylus. The 3rd card (not shown) uses the Big Shot and one of our Texturz embossing plates.

Yes, the brown one is very similar (okay it's the same) as the card I did for Kristina's colour challange, I just loved it so much and when I saw her colours I suddenly pictured it in black and white, but this was the original. The second card uses the Sale-a-bration Polka Dots punch set, and it's very hard to see in this picture but it has a simple embossed frame around the Whisper White piece. Hope you enjoy, and if you like what you see, why not contact me about joining my next club???

Colour Inspiration and an appology

I didn't get a chance to get the Brown Paper packages up this week. I didn't seem to get much blogging done at all this week. I am going to work on getting stuff up with more regularity. I have been making lots of cards lately mostly thank you cards for all of my hostesses!! That's right on top of getting to pick out free stamp sets and other products for free, you get hand-made cards from me!!! :) Is there really anything better than collecting the mail and finding a personal hand-made greeting??? So, because I have been actively card making lately, I had a chance to do this weeks kwernerdesign.com Colour Inspiration challenge.
Black, grey and white. Classy, crisp and bold!! Perfect for a card style that I came up with yesterday and is one of the cards that my club girls will be doing this friday (but in a different colour scheme). The inspiration for the card was from a picture I saw from Leadership 2009. The card from Leadership was using the Manhatten Impressions folder for the Big Shot, but I loved the look!
Products used:
Stampin' Up "Fifth Avenue Floral" stamp set, "Warm Words " stamp set
Stampin' Up Card stock- Whisper White, Basic Black
Stampin' Up Ink- Basic Black, Basic Grey, Versamark
Accessories- Sponge Dauber, Basic Grey ribbon, Clear embossing powder, 1 3/4" circle punch, large hole punch, eyelet border, heat gun.

Sale-a-bration cards....

Here are the cards that we were making at my Open House yesterday. Thank you everyone who came, and I will post the Door Prize winners either later today, or tomorrow. The first card was made using a "Top Note" cut out in Designer Paper. I then cut the note in half so that the stripped half could show too. Some of the Certainly Celery ribbon was tied on the top and the "A Little Something for you" stamp from the "Yummy" set was used. All of this was mounted on Close to Cocoa paper. The second card uses both the "Botantical Blooms" and "Congratulations" set. The card base is Rose Red. The flowers and sentiment were stamped on Whisper White using Basic Black for the outline, Rose red, So saffron and Certainly Celery to stamp the insides. This piece was then mounted on a piece of the so saffron FREE Sale-a-bration paper.

Sorry for the lack of postings & Open House reminder......

Hi Everyone,

It's been one crazy week around my place. The baby, after going to daycare for the first time last Friday came down with one hell of a stomach bug on Monday morning! And even today, he is not fully back to normal. He is much better, but I am still waiting for his usual appetite and subsequent rise in activities. Oh, and because one sick kid isn't enough, his sister came down with the same bug a couple of days ago. Such fun. Therefore, no time for posting......

I have LOTS of cards to share, but I need to take pictures of them. I will try and do that tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow........ it's my Sale-a-bration Open House!! I sure hope you can drop in! Come by for some make and takes (both featuring Sale-a-bration products), door prizes and a damn good time!! :) And remember, everyone who comes gets one entry into the door prize draw and there are lots of other ways to earn entries such as sales, bookings etc!

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Happy belated Family Day!!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but we spent family day hanging out as a family! Go figure! :) Kieran has been bugging us to play poker, so as soon as the baby went to sleep, that's exactly what we did. It was pretty fun too! But she doesn't get the whole bluffing thing, or really understands what makes a good hand, but she likes it, and we all had fun. Since I have been using my All in the Family set, I figured that would be a great one to show for Family day...... I am sooo clever! :)

This is a card that I made for one of my niece's birthdays. I have been eye balling all of the beautiful cards with a sponged cloud background, and just had to try it out! The image is coloured in with ink and blender pens. The presents are cut out of paper scraps and then I hand drew the bows (and the birds).

Products used:
Stampin' Up "All in the Family" stamp set, "Family Accessories" Stamp Set and "Warm Words " stamp set
Stampin' Up Card stock- Whisper White, Rose Red, Gable Green, assorted scraps
Stampin' Up Ink- Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, So Safron & Pretty in Pink
Accessories- Sponge Dauber, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Stampin' Write marker, blender pen
